Orthopaedic Surgeon  BSc(Hons) MBBS FRACS FAOrthA

 

Dr David Ramsay is a Queensland trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who has a special interest in conditions of the hip and knee. After completing his general Orthopaedic training he completed fellowships in Tasmania and Scotland in hip arthroscopy, hip and knee replacement, and revision or complex joint replacements.  

Dr Ramsay also manages other general adult orthopaedic conditions, and fractures and minor injuries and children and adolescents. 

Dr Ramsay operates at the Mater Redlands Private Hospital, as well as working at the Redlands Public Hospital.

Trauma hand surgery

Elective Elbow and shoulder:

  • Tendinopathy and rotator cuff tears of the shoulder

 

Trauma elbow and shoulder

  • Radial head fractures, olecranon fractures,  and humeral fractures.
  • Clavicle fractures and dislocations

Hip Elective

  • Trochanteric bursitis and gluteal tendon repairs
  • Primary and revision hip replacements

Hip trauma

Knee Elective

  •  ACL and PCL reconstructions
  •  Primary and revision Total knee replacement
  •  Arthroscopic meniscal repair or debridement including in appropriate middle-aged and older patients.

Knee trauma

  •  Patella fractures and dislocations
  •  Osteochondral defects
  •  Distal femoral and proximal tibial fractures including tibial spine avulsions

Foot and ankle elective:

  •  Bunions
  •  Morton’s neuroma
  •  Toe arthritis
  •  Mid foot arthritis
  •  Adult acquired flat foot

 Foot and ankle trauma

  • Fractures of the phalanges, metatarsals, tarsals and ankle
  • Repair of flexor and extensor tendon lacerations
  • Deep infections of the foot and ankle
  • Removal of foreign bodies from the foot
  • Lisfranc injuries
  • Acute Achilles tendon ruptures

 

 Nonsurgical (fracture clinic) management of upper and lower limb fractures in adults and children of any age.

 

Generally children under the age of 14 requiring surgical management of fractures will be referred to paediatric orthopaedic surgeons in Brisbane, as the Mater Redlands private hospital is currently unable to offer overnight admission for children in this age group.
