Dr John Albeitz
Dr Albietz is an orthopaedic surgeon practising exclusively in the sub-speciality of spinal surgery. He was born and educated in Brisbane, completed his medical degree in 1996 through the University of Queensland and his orthopaedic training was completed through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2005. Dr Albietz then travelled to Canada for advanced sub-speciality training in paediatric and adult spinal surgery. Through the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, he completed a paediatric spinal fellowship at BC Children’s Hospital and a combined adult orthopaedic / neurosurgical spinal fellowship at Vancouver General Hospital. He then travelled to London Ontario and completed a further adult spinal surgery fellowship through the University of Western Ontario, at the Victoria Hospital. Dr Albietz has an interest in all areas of adult and paediatric spinal surgery. He consults and operates on acute and chronic conditions affecting the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. This includes trauma, tumour, infection, deformity correction (scoliosis / kyphosis) and degenerative conditions (disc prolapse / stenosis / back pain) with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgery. Dr Albietz is a member of the Spine Society of Australia, and is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He has presented both locally and internationally on various spinal surgery topics.
